ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini… Which Should You Use?
🕓 Read time: ~2.5 min
One of the most frequent questions I get from clients is, “Which AI should I use?”
Let’s get right to it: For most coaches and consultants, the specific tool -ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini - really doesn’t matter as much as you might think. Each of these tools is excellent for brainstorming, writing, and content support and so much more. The subtle differences between them matter to tech pros, but for everyday business use, any of the big names will cover what you need.
So, instead of worrying about which logo to click, here’s a smarter approach:
🔁 “Start With the Use Case, Not the Tool”
Begin with what you actually want to get done.
-
Outlining a workshop?
-
Drafting client emails?
-
Brainstorming new service ideas?
Pick your task first. Then, try the free versions of Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini for that specific job. Notice which one feels more natural, delivers better results, or just clicks with your way of working.
The best AI for you is the one you’ll use consistently and with confidence.
You're wondering what I'm actually using?
Right now, I use ChatGPT Plus as my main generative AI. I love Claude, especially for writing tasks, but I don’t want to pay for two subscriptions all the time. Plus, I’ve set up all my “virtual team members” inside ChatGPT. Given the team has grown to 50+ members, I’m a bit locked in (moving would be a project on its own!). I can access some Claude models via my PerplexityPro subscription when I need them. It’s not exactly the same, but it's not bad either.
If I always chased the “best” model for every task, I’d constantly be switching providers and moving my assistants with me. And honestly? From an effort perspective, that would be a bit like orchestrating an office move for an entire team.
One of my Q4 projects is to evaluate whether I’ll switch to a multi-model AI platform like Langdock, which lets you select your favorite models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and more, all in one place. If you’re interested in what I find, let me know, I'll be happy to share insights as I test things out.
And there's more, and again, it has got nothing to do with your choice of AI:
You might be surprised to hear this, but the brand of AI is often less important than the kind of model you use for your task. There are important differences between traditional language models (probably what you're using as a default) and so-called reasoning models. And that difference has a much bigger impact on your results than just choosing between ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
But that’s a deep dive for next week's edition...stay tuned.
Key Takeaway
Stop hunting for the “perfect” AI. Start with your goal, experiment with a few tools, and stick with what works for you.
Keep experimenting,
Elena
