Fastest $300 I Ever Saved With ChatGPT
🕓 Read time: ~4 min
You discover a cool website feature and think this is just what you need. Only to discover it's not available in your website builder. Or, in other words, adding it would require building custom code. And if you're anything like me, you don't know a thing about coding. You’re left with two options: pay for custom code or give up.
🔁 Behind the Scenes: Here's How I Coded - Without Knowing How To
That’s exactly where I was a few weeks ago. I wanted a slick “Marquee Banner” on my landing page. My website builder couldn’t do it. The agency that made my templates? $300 to add it. Fiverr? Probably $50, but a lot of back-and-forth with the developer (and time is money when you work for yourself). I considered going without that cool "Marquee Banner" because I wasn't willing to spend $300.
I almost gave up... until I remembered the "Magic Prompt" I teach in my courses...the "How can you help me?" prompt. I decided to give it a try, using ChatGPT.
Here's the exact prompt I put:
"I want to build a "Marquee Banner" for my website (I use website builder abc), how can you help me?" (no need to tell it who I am and who my business audience is, to help me with the particular query, any extra context is irrelevant).
ChatGPT asked a few clarifying questions, then told me how it could help.
I decided to have it help me develop the actual code, provided the required information and told it to go ahead. A few minutes later, it delivered exactly what I needed:
-
The custom code.
-
Step-by-step instructions for implementing it in my specific website builder.
I went ahead and implemented it, realized I wanted a few tweaks, so I went back and had ChatGPT help me with the fine-tuning.
Total time: about 20 minutes, and the feature was live. And I am using this custom code across landing pages, with ChatGPT helping me make the changes.
So, 20-min with existing tools when I almost spent 300$. And it certainly took less time explaining my task to ChatGPT than going on Fiverr, selecting a Freelancer and explaning everything to them.

Key Takeaway
Before you outsource your next tech job, ask AI:
“How can you help me?” (“I am [insert your role in this context] and I want to do [insert task] in order to [insert goal] for [insert audience]. How can you help me?” )
You might surprise yourself while saving both time and money.
Til next time,
Elena
