The AI Paradox I Can't Ignore
⏱️ Read time: ~2 min
Something happened recently that I can't stop thinking about. And I need to talk about it.
I'm running AI training and implementation support for a business client. Quite a big investment, very cool use cases, none of which are about replacing anyone on the team. All of it designed to help the business grow. Exactly the kind of work I love doing.
And yet, getting the team to show up? It's like pulling teeth.
"We're so busy." "I haven't watched the recordings yet." "What we've worked on so far is enough." And the list goes on...
Meanwhile, in my courses designed for solopreneurs and entrepreneurs, I keep meeting corporate employees. In almost every AI Discovery cohort. And even in my AI Hive community. They're people who work for companies. Some got their employer to cover the cost. Others? They're paying out of their own pocket, debating whether they can justify the expense, quietly investing in themselves because their company isn't doing it for them.
Let that sink in for a second.
One group is being handed the opportunity and not taking it. Another group is creating the opportunity themselves, at their own expense.
I'll be honest. It shocked me. And it made me a little sad too.
AI skills are no longer a "nice to have." They are the difference between staying relevant and falling behind at some stage. And the people who understand that aren't waiting for permission, for budget approval, or for their company to figure it out. They're moving.
Now, I'm not saying AI is everything. It's not. But if there are areas of your work where AI can genuinely help you, and you're not exploring them, the question worth asking is: when will you?
Because "busy" doesn't get less busy. And the gap between those building these skills now and those waiting? It's growing every day.
Key Takeaway
Your AI development is your responsibility, whether you work for yourself or for someone else. These are future skills. They will keep you relevant, competitive, and in control of your career and your business. Don't wait for someone else to hand you that.
